What a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing.

I know what you mean. I was so in love with a surgeon I worked with before I met my DH. I was over the moon for this man. He was a complete jerk! (But, of course.) Thankfully things did not work out. I can't tell you how many times the thought just spontaneously flashes into my head "thank you Gd, for not letting me end up with HIM." I still think about him often, but not in a longing sort of way! Oh no. He would never have supported me through IF. He would have blamed me. He would have scowled at all the money I was costing him. He would have dumped me quickly and moved on to a more fertile cow.

Someone said they saw him a couple of years ago and he was fat and bald. Haha.

Oops, clicked post too soon. All that to say that my DH is also my dream man, even though in the beginning, he didn't fit my picture either. Your story is really beautiful--see, sometimes we do get lucky.

This is a beautiful post, Thalia. Sounds like you're a lucky woman.

T, sometimes we don't get what we want but what we NEED. Thank you for sharing you and H's beautiful story.

I can relate to what you are saying. I think I married later in life because
1) I spent to much time waiting on jerks because I confused infatuation with love. and
2) I was holding out for my mythical dream man.
I thank my lucky stars, as I'm sure you do, that somewhere deep inside I knew enough to marry Dan even when I wasn't sure he was perfect. No one could love me better or be more loyal and supportive.

You are a very lucky and smart woman!

Lovely story, my dear. You and H are BOTH very lucky to have found your "dream" in each other.

That was the sweetest story. Thanks for sharing.

Sweet :-) Lucky man too.

What a great guy! We are all so lucky to be blessed with such great guys!

Thanks for modeling!

Oh my. That made my eyes mist. Lovely story! Thank you for sharing that.

Thalia, my story with DH is very similar! After these IF years, I know without a doubt that he is the best thing that could have happened to me.
It's wonderful to see how much more that phrase means now,

very encouraging story, T. As a single gal who is sooooo picky on her dream man that I have decided to get the baby before the husband I found your post excellent in keeping my hope alive. thank you,

What a great story, Thalia. I'm so glad you have that, and know.

Very lovely LOVE story. I also feel that IF has shown me that I definitely married the right man. His support and encouragement have gotten me through my darkest days...

Thanks for such a sweet sweet story. You've been blessed.

What a beautiful story. My husband also wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but what a fool, because he's exactly what I should have had in mind because to me, he's perfect.

What a great love story. I too married someone I never thought that I would. And he too has proved to be just what I need.

Good luck this week.

The things that really matter might be too intangible to make it into our early mental models of the ideal man. Thank goodness we get opportunities to adjust our thinking!

" I feel a lot more married, a lot more at peace than I did on my wedding day. I know that is sacrilegious, but it's true."

I think that's how you know you married the right person. The wedding day is just the ceremony. Its all fluff and nonsense and sayng some words that you hope remain true. Its only by being married and doing all the hard work that comes with it that you can find the peace and true love that you believed were there on the wedding day.

I feel the same way about Monkey Boy. No-one else could possibly have helped me through the crap the way he has.

Beautiful story, Thalia.

It's funny, isn't it, how the person who ends up being perfect for you is so different from what you imagined. Sounds like you managed to find him anyway, though!

Beautiful!!!!! Sniff... sob....
