Just a quickie today. I made the HSG appointment - it's on the 7th which will be CD12. Still leaves us time to try this month, hopefully. The woman was actually really nice. She's another person (either literally or metaphorically, I'm not sure which) from last time I called.
I hear they hurt. Do they?
Rather than spending time typing to you I'm going home early so I can make chocolate chip cookies for my team.
Can I be on your team so I can get a cookie??? I don't recall an hsg test hurting, but I have an incredibly high tolerance for pain so might not be a good judge.

Like Sandy said, your tolerance for pain is a pretty big factor in if an HSG hurts or not. :) I have a friend recently who had one and wrote to me afterward, panicked, "Is that how labor is going to feel??" I almost didn't have the heart to tell her. So is it worse than labor? Hell no. ;) But for me it wasnt' a walk in the park either. It could just really depend on the tech who performs it. GOOD LUCK and enjoy those cookies. :)

For some people it doesn't hurt at all, for others (like me) it hurt like hell. I think taking some kind of pain killer, even just some Advil, beforehand might be a good idea. I took a Vicodin and wished I had taken two. I hope yours won't be that bad. Good luck.

Mine didn't hurt at all - no worse than a regular exam. The cool part is getting to see everything - make sure they show you the screen - it's really quite beautiful in an abstract way.

It hurt like hell, and that was after taking Vicodin plus ibuprofen one hour before the procedure. But that could have something to do with the fact that they shot the whole amount of dye, the amount intended for a normal uterus, into my tiny, half uterus. I cramped terribly and was miserable. The good news is that it only lasts for about 3-4 minutes. But definitely at least take ibuprofen beforehand. Good luck!

Add me to the hurt like hell group. Make sure you're not driving home, just in case. I could barely walk back to my car. Best of luck!
